The Delta State Secretariat of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) yesterday confirmed the passing out of the 2014 Batch B of corps members posted to the state, saying that out of the 3,670 corps members, 3,521 participated in the scheme while others either absconded, died or were nowhere to be found.
Mrs. Rose Emeotu, NYSC officer in charge of rewards and discipline in the state, said four of the corps members died of unspecified diseases, six absconded from the service while 18 others got extension of service ranging from one week to six months.
She said that 15 corps members carried out personal projects in their host communities, out of whomsix got ratified for the state governor’s award while six others would receive their award from the NYSC.
On the allegation of sex scandal, the NYSC discipline officer dispelled the rumour, saying that corps members allegedly named in the mess during the service had their discharge certificates withheld.
