The Special Assistant to the Supervising Minister of Education, Lambert Oparah, has disclosed that the Federal Government is doing its best to bridge the First Degree and HND discrepancy.

He said during the weekend while monitoring the JAMB Computer-based Test in Abuja, “As it is now, most of the contentious issues with ASUP have been addressed, a committee has been set up to harmonize the First Degree and HND dichotomy and boards of the various polytechnics and colleges have been inaugurated’’

“Despite the challenge of the prolonged strike inherited from previous administration, Wike, had, within the past few years, provided the critical leadership that would place the nation’s education sector on a sound footing,” Oparah added.

`The basic education sub-sector for example has witnessed tremendous upliftment through infrastructural development, rehabilitation and provision of teaching and learning materials.”

“Today, the federal government colleges hitherto rejected by many parents are now centres of attraction,” calling on ASUP to call off its strike in the interest of “our children and our future.”
