National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Dr. Nasir Isa Fagge yesterday said the body was yet to decide when to call off its ongoing strike which started more than three months ago.

Fagge said in Makurdi that the national coordinating committee of the union is still consulting with its members nationwide before reaching a final conclusion on the matter as agreed with the Vice President, Nnamadi Sambo in the last meeting held in Abuja.

“We are in Makurdi to interact with our members. We are still consulting and collecting the views of our members nationwide. As it is now, we have not concluded on the outcome of the strike.”

The vice president had assumed negotiation with the body after the Suswam led negotiating team with ASUU failed.

While insisting that the federal government must implement its obligations as contained in the 2009 agreement it entered with the union, Fagge said after due consultation with members, the union would announce its decision.

He dared Governor Gabriel Suswam to open the Benue State University forcefully since the students and lecturers were at his disposal.

“If Suswam is not happy with what ASUU is doing, posterity will judge,” he said.
