In fulfillment of its mandate of ensuring standards in engineering profession, an engineering profesional regulatory body, the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) conducted an accreditation exercise of engineering programmes in FUTO from Monday, October 13 to Wednesday, October 15, 2014. On arrival at the University, the COREN Accreditation Team paid a courtsey visit to the Vice-Chancellor.

During the courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, the team leader of the degelation, Engr. Dr. Babagana Mohammed stated that the exercise was to ensure that standards were maintained in the teaching of engineering programmes in Nigerian Universities. He stated that the exercise would cover the eight Departments in the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SEET). In his response, the Vice-Chancellor welcomed the team and assured them of maximum co-operation of the University in ensuring a hitch-free exercise.

Similarly at the exit meeting held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, the leader of the accreditation team, Engr. Dr. Babaganga Mohammed thanked Management for their assistance in ensuring a smooth accreditation exercise. He praised the University Management for developing an Ultra-Modern magnificient SEET Building complex describing it as an architectural master piece. He noted with delight the provision of professorial offices for Senior Academics in the Building complex describing it as an innovation. He expressed satisfaction with the facilities on ground but however pointed out areas of deficiency. He stated that the final report of the accreditation exercise would be communicated to the University after the Council had considered the report of the team. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Chigozie C. Asiabaka thanked the team for their thorough work. He stated that various issues raised by the team would be dully addressed within the shortest possible time.
