After a year of wonderful experiences and sojourn in the United States, Pearl Elenwo and Hadassah Hussaini, both 300 Level students of Political Science and International Relations, Covenant University, have opened up about their experiences.

Pearl Elenwo was admitted into Northwest College, Powell, Wyoming, United States while Hadassah Hussaini was admitted into American University, Washington DC, United States for a One-year non-degree South East Sahara Exchange Programme.

While speaking about how they got to know about the scholarship scheme, Pearl Elenwo said she got to know about the scholarship scheme through the Covenant University platform. According to her, about 200 students summited their applications in Covenant University but only five were shortlisted on CGPA basis. Thereafter, they were interviewed and finally selected to represent Nigeria. Both of them were among the only three who represented Africa.

Speaking on their sojourn in the foreign institutions, they appreciated the opportunity they had to participate in the Exchange Programme, because it was a moment of exposure – socially, academically, and culturally, among others. “Our sojourn abroad was quite interesting, it’s a different world there,” Pearl said.

“Spirituality is core in life, and Covenant University helped us to hold firm to our beliefs in Christ. The Integrity Core Value and all other core values made us responsible”, Hadassah added.

Pearls advised students to enroll for this exchange programme because, according to her, “It’s a way of collaborating with other institutions, developing new skills and learning new things”.

Talking about what they missed about Covenant University, they cited Chapel Services, praise, worship and variety of Nigerian dishes.

Hadassah noted that there were good sentiments expressed by other students from the host institutions and other places about Covenant University. “Your school is really good”. “I like the way you dress in your school”. “The President of your institution must be really smart”, they said. “I had never been that proud of Covenant University. I felt so happy” she said. While Pearl said “My lecturers over there complimented the way I speak English and the way I adapted fast to the environment”.
