EDUCATION MINISTER MEETS UNIVERSITY VCs, SILENT ABOUT ASUU STRIKE

The Minister of Education Nyeson Wike, is currently holding a meeting with Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities at the National Universities Commission, Abuja.

The minister, who didn’t reveal the agenda of the meeting, said it is a routine meeting that he is holding with the heads of the universities, but asked the reporters to excuse the meeting as the subject is not for “the media’s consumption.”

Tens of University Vice-Chancelors or their representatives are in attendance in the meeting which also has the Executive Scretary of the National Univeristies Commission, Professor Julious Okogie, in attendance.

The expectant journalists were disappointed as they obeyed the minister’s direction to leave the venue of the meeting.

Though the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been on strike for months, the minister didn’t say anything about the strike.
