Post graduate Students in Ekiti State University, Ado – Ekiti have been warned against prolonging their stay while pursuing their studies.

The Vice-Chancellor Professor Patrick Oladipo Aina gave the warning during the 2012/2013 Matriculation Ceremony of the School of Postgraduate Studies on Tuesday, 4th February, 2014.

The Vice-Chancellor who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Olugbenga Aribisala declared that a large number of Postgraduate Students used to overstay their normal period of studies adding that the situation has been a great source of concern to the University. According to him, “this will not be tolerated again”.

The Vice-Chancellor also spoke about the re-structuring of the Postgraduate programmes saying “I therefore wish to advise you to join hands with your Faculties and the Board of School of Postgraduate in our joint effort to re-structure the school of Postgraduate Studies and make our programmes more attractive to all students.”

The EKSU helmsman also admonished the fresh Postgraduate Students to eschew violence and all other social vices common among students as the University would impose appropriate sanctions against dissenting students.

He, however congratulated the students for choosing Ekiti State University where there is commitment to work, evolving a sound Academic culture and the building of a research-based Centre of Excellence for Postgraduate training to be reckoned with, in Nigeria and across the globe.
