Female students under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian FemaleStudents (NANFS) have called on the federal government to honour its 2009 agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
In a statement signed by the association’s president, Comrade Funmi Farinde, the students said government should set in motion all the mechanism necessary for meeting the funding requirement of the 2009 agreement.
“Fundamentally, ASUU’s demand has been on the need to arrest the falling standard of education and also to ensure the equality of tertiary education which has fallen beyond imagination,” the statement added.
The students gave the federal government seven days to resolve the conflict with ASUU, saying, it is time for it to save the university system from collapsing.
