About 10,000 prospective candidates are seeking admission to study at the Faculty of Management Sciences at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State. Liveschoolnews however gathered that only 200, out of the 10,000 who sat for the post-UTME into that faculty at the weekend will be offered admission.

Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Olusola Oyewole, who spoke at the concluding day of the screening exercise at the weekend, said the institution will seek increase in the number of people to be admitted.

Oyewole told newsmen that the faculty with about 10,000 figure had the highest prospective candidates out of the about 28,000 that sat for the screening, which lasted three days.

The vice chancellor attributed the development to the quest by the candidates to read management courses at the detriment of core sciences.

“It shows that more and more students seek management programmes”, he said.

He urged the NUC to consider an increment in the admission quota, adding, “Three years ago, we had about 17,000, last year, we had about 21,000 and this year, we recorded 28,100, out of which only 3500 will be admitted”.

The Dean Students Affairs, Prof. Yemi Akagbejo Samson and the university chaplain, Prof. Christian Ike obi, told our correspondent who monitored the exercise that with the level of security, no candidate could engage in examination malpractice.
