Youth wing of Northern Union (NU) has called on striking members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to immediately call off the strike, saying the government’s N30 billion promise was enough incentive for them to return to the classroom.
In a statement issued in Ilorin by its national coordinator, Kolo Majin Jerry and publicity secretary, Mohammed Katun, the union advised university lecturers to realise that, “Nigerian students who represent the future leaders are bearing the brunt of the strike. Beyond this point, it will be believed that ASUU is only hiding under agitation for improved educational infrastructure to pursue its personal welfare allowance package while endangering the students’ future.”
