The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP) has said the technical committee of the federal tertiary institutions, which was set up by the minister of education to put an end to the agitation by unions, should take the blame for the indefinite strikes it has embarked on since Tuesday.

This was communicated to journalists by the Chairman of SSANIP, Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) chapter, Omopariola Olorunmbe, at a briefing at the union’s secretariat.

According to him, the technical committee is one-sided, as none of the unions was neither included nor invited to present its position for consideration along with those of government departments or agencies.

Olorunmbe also alleged that the committee is bringing back dichotomy between Higher National Diploma (HND) and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) holders

He, therefore, on behalf of his colleagues, demanded that they be carried along in decisions that concern the union and the removal of every discrimination against HND holders.

“We wish to refer to the committee constituted by the Honourable Minister of Education to put an end to the agitation by the unions.
