The University of Jos yesterday matriculated 6,700 fresh students admitted for degree programmes in the 2014/2015 academic session.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Hayward Mafuyai said since its establishment 39 years ago, the institution had never witnessed religious riots and appealed to the newly matriculated students to be their brothers’ keepers.

Mafuyai charged the students to always dress well, saying he had directed security men on the campus to ensure strict compliance with the dress code.

He further advised the students to be serious in their academics, adding that JAMB had rated the university the ninth most preferred institution during the 2014/2015 admission exercise.
